Charentes and Oleron


This 240 km (5 hours) ride will allow you to discover the different landscapes of the Charente Maritime: you will follow the superb coastline along the Gironde estuary to the Ile d'Oléron and then pass through the marshy countryside of the Charentes hinterland.

1. Oleron Island: colourful marshes rub shoulders with forests, sandy beaches and rocky coastlines



2. Brouage: a former fortified city and salt trading port whose production has now given way to oyster farming



3. Roche Courbon Castle: this superb castle, built in the shape of a triangle on a rocky spur, is naturally defended by the marsh



4. Regulus caves: dug into limestone cliffs, these caves welcome you in an exceptional landscape
